Overloading lifting slings and rigging is strictly prohibited, and unlabeled or unverified items must not be used. All components of sling assemblies should be inspected regularly. Never attempt to straighten twisted slings by hammering—they can cause further damage. Additionally, never throw slings, pull them from beneath heavy loads, or allow objects to roll across them. For externally purchased slings and rigging, ensure they come with a certificate of conformity issued by a professional manufacturer, along with detailed maintenance and care instructions, and clearly marked with their rated lifting capacity. The using organization must also establish comprehensive safety procedures and a regular maintenance schedule.
